  报告摘要:

  The lecture firstly gives a brief introduction to Czech Republic and Brno University of Technology (BUT). As for BUT, it is a higher education institution that was founded in 1899 as Czech Technical University,the lecturer will mainly talk about the main courses, work places and related cultures. In the second part, the lecturer will talk about his team’s research results on common carotid artery (CCA) wall localization in B-mode ultrasound images. Carotid ultrasound examination has become a widely used method for prevention of cardiovascular diseases, quantification of artery stenosis and characterization of the artery wall plaque, due to its non-invasive nature and good availability. However, determination of the CCA wall movement from ultrasound images, which is usually done manually, is very tedious and time-consuming. In this lecture, methods for automatically localizing the CCA wall contour inside an ultrasound image will be introduced, those methods can be used in real-time applications for initialization of an artery wall tracking procedure.
